Anomaly Detection → Microsoft Teams

DevOps Engineer @ Accuris

A New Relic anomaly-detection tool built with Power Automate that surfaces anomalies and pushes real-time alerts into Microsoft Teams via webhook.

New RelicPower AutomateMicrosoft TeamsWebhooks

Impact

  • Real-time anomaly alerts delivered straight to the team channel.
  • Faster incident awareness without anyone babysitting dashboards.
  • No-code automation glue between observability and chat.

The problem

Anomalies in New Relic only mattered if someone happened to be looking at the right dashboard at the right time. Important signals sat unseen until they became incidents, and the team had no lightweight way to be told “something looks off” the moment it happened.

The approach

I built an anomaly-detection workflow with Power Automate that watched New Relic for anomalous behavior and, on detection, pushed a real-time alert into Microsoft Teams via an incoming webhook. It turned a passive dashboard into an active signal — the data came to the team instead of the team going to the data.

Keeping it in Power Automate made it transparent and maintainable: the whole flow is readable and editable without a deploy, which suited a glue-layer tool that needs to evolve quickly.

The impact

  • Real-time alerts in the channel people already watch.
  • Faster awareness of issues, with no dashboard babysitting.
  • A clean, no-code bridge between observability and team communication.
